Reassurance Phone Friends
by Fran Miller
Eighty-year old Bonita always looked forward to her daily 8:00am phone call from her Reassurance Phone Friend volunteer. But the morning after she had fallen in her backyard, where she lain overnight with a broken hip, her Phone Friend became a phone savior.

From our Reassurance Clients...

“I am very grateful for this program as I do not have family close by.”

“My wife died after 62 years of marriage.  My volunteer’s reassuring voice confirms that I am alive and ready to face another day.”

“I appreciate the good services you provide to seniors.  At 94 years of age, I do not drive anymore. Since I live alone, cards and calls are so welcome.”

"When I talk to my phone friend volunteer, every day right after our conversation I feel alive and vibrant. It is like I am no longer ill and the pain, well… I don’t notice it as much. I am faced with a bone cancer that is in the third stage. My delightful volunteer gives me something uplifting to look forward to, and she has added a very bright spot in my life. This is a wonderful, wonderful service."

"The volunteers are all wonderful people who devoted time, kindness and understanding. They are my American Family. They are there every time I need them.”

From our Rides for Seniors Clients...

"I want to thank you and am so grateful that at age 82 and disabled, I have peace of mind with the Rides for Seniors Program.”

"A stranger picked me up this morning, but a new family member brought me home."

“They make me feel comfortable - when I go into the hospital for my appointment, my blood pressure is not up - this is very important.”

"Every driver has been so helpful and makes the trip less painful and I look forward, instead of dreading, doctor appointments.”

"This is the most amazing service!"
